Compact, user-friendly guide highlights top sights, dining, and insider tips for short-stay travelers

Malta, 27th Jun 2025, Grand Newswire – The Sliema Local Council today unveiled its new Quick-Tourism Guide, a streamlined resource designed to help visitors explore the best of Sliema’s coastal charm—even when time is limited. Available free of charge in print and digital formats, the pocket-sized guide delivers curated recommendations, must-see landmarks, and ready-to-use itineraries for stays as brief as two hours.

“As Sliema continues to welcome higher numbers of day-trippers and short-stay guests, we recognized the need for an easy-to-follow tool that makes sightseeing efficient and enjoyable,” said Maria Xerri, President of the Sliema Local Council. “Our Quick-Tourism Guide empowers visitors to make the most of every moment—whether they’re here for a morning stroll along The Strand or a sunset view from Fort Tigne.”

Key Features of the Guide

  • Top Attractions in 60 Minutes: From the historic Fort Tigne to the bustling Sliema Ferries promenade, each stop includes a time estimate and walking directions.
  • Curated Dining & Café Picks: Local favorites for quick bites, coffees with a view, and gelato stops, complete with insider notes on opening hours and specialties.
  • Three Sample Itineraries: “Seaside Stroll” (2 hours), “Heritage Highlights” (3 hours), and “Family Fun” (4 hours), each mapped out with transport tips.
  • Multi-Language Support: Printed in English, Maltese, Italian, and German; digital version auto-detects browser language.
  • Interactive QR Codes: Scan to access an online map, augmented-reality overlays of key monuments, and live updates on events and exhibitions.
  •

The guide was developed in partnership with Visit Malta and funded through an EU regional tourism grant. Printed copies are distributed at the Sliema Local Council office, major hotels, and the ferry terminal; the digital edition can be downloaded at www.sliema.mt/tourism.

“To encourage repeat visits and longer stays, our guide doesn’t just point to the obvious,” noted John Borg, Chair of the Council’s Tourism Committee. “It also shines a light on hidden gems—local artisan shops, family-run trattorias, and scenic viewpoints off the beaten path.”

A launch event will be held on July 2, 2025, at the Fort Tigne esplanade, featuring live demonstrations of the guide’s AR functionality and a meet-and-greet with participating café owners.
